Nelson Mandela Day
Nelson Mandela Day was begun by the United Nations in 2009 to commemorate the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela (1918-2013), who campaigned to end apartheid in South Africa and spent twenty-seven years in prison as part of his fight for social justice.
