Florence Nightingale’s birthday
Florence Nightingale (1820-1910) was an English nurse and writer well known for the role she played during the Crimean War in the 1850s where she lowered the death rate by introducing greater hygienic practices and pushing the government to build a new hospital. She also pioneered the application of statistics to health services.
